Ao Nang is situated on the west coast of the Thai Peninsula around 20 kilometres west of Krabi city, on the Andaman Sea.

It was originally a fishing village however has become a popular resort town, it has some lovely stretches of beach and there is plenty to do around the immediate area. Kayaking around the coastline, jungle trekking, bird watching are all popular activities and there are plenty of hire places and tour operators around to look after visitors. Some of the nearby beaches are accessible only by foot and are a lvely way to enjoy some more secluded locations. These include Hat Tham Phra Nang and Hat Nam Mao.

There are also great options to jump on a boat and visit the nearby islands or do some diving. There are 83 small islands accessible nearby to the large bay. Some of the great places to visit by boat include Ko Poda, Ko Mo and Ko Thap all f which are great for diving or snorkeling and have lovely reefs and marine life to explore.

The southern beach is a great place to get a massage on the beach.

There is a good range of accommodation in Ao Nang. Overall this beachside location has a great range of facilities for visitors to enjoy without being overdeveloped.
