Day Itinerary Planner
Set a start time, add your stops with their travel and visit times, and see the full arrive/depart schedule for your day trip — plus when the day actually ends.
Your schedule
| Stop | Arrive | Depart |
|---|---|---|
| First stop | 09:20 | 10:20 |
| Second stop | 10:35 | 12:05 |
How the schedule is built
The planner walks your start time through each stop in order: add the travel time to get an arrival, add the visit time to get a departure, and carry that departure forward as the starting point for the next stop's travel time. The last stop's departure time is when your day ends.
Reordering stops or trimming a visit time is often the fastest way to claw back an evening that's running long — try moving a shorter stop earlier and a flexible one (like a park or a viewpoint) to the end, where it's easiest to cut if the day gets away from you.
Frequently Asked Questions
What counts as "travel time" for a stop?
The travel time to reach that stop from wherever you were before — from your starting point for the first stop, or from the previous stop for every stop after that. It should include parking and walking to the entrance, not just driving time.
How does the planner decide a day "runs late"?
It flags any schedule that ends after 9:00 pm. That's a reasonable cutoff for a day trip that's supposed to get you home at a sensible hour — treat it as a nudge to trim a stop or start earlier, not a hard rule.
Can I use this for a walking-only day with no driving?
Yes — the travel time between stops is just a number of minutes, so it works whether you're walking, driving, or taking transit between each one. Pair it with the Walking Distance & Steps Calculator if you want to estimate the walking time itself.
What if a stop runs long once I'm actually there?
Treat the generated schedule as a plan, not a guarantee — a queue at a popular landmark or a longer lunch will push everything after it later. Build in a little slack at a couple of stops if your day has a hard end time, like a return train or a dinner reservation.
Educational tool only. The schedule is a plan built from the numbers you enter — actual timing varies with queues, weather, and how long you linger at any one stop.
