Informally recognized as one of the seven New Wonders of the World, Chichen Itza rises in Tinum, near the heart of Yucatan. Another more thorough designation preceded it, when UNESCO included it in its World Heritage Site list in 1988. In its layout and reliefs, a change in order is outlined, a precise science and a permanent message to the gods.
