The caves are truly stunning in scale with the roof of the caves stretching to almost 100 metres in some places, and penetrating the mountainside 1.2 kilometres. It is one of the largest known cave systems in the world. The caves are active, meaning that groundwater still enters the cave systems and the formation of stalagmites and stalactites continues. As you would expect in a system of this size there are many different chambers of whihc about twenty are able to be entered by the public.
Guided tours run into the caves roughly every two hours. This can be somewhat frustrating for some visitors as many of the guides do not speak english, and there is little opportunity to explore the caves at your own leisure and soak in the amazing atmosphere.
